At Churchill, three educational opportunities are provided that are all very interesting experiences which are bound to leave you ready for life and even greater education to come. These schools include, our Alternative High School, International High School, and the Rachel Carson center. Below are summaries of each:
The alternative program at Churchill, also known as CAHS, offers opportunities for independent study and non-traditional methods for completing high school graduation requirements. The program includes smaller class sizes, more in-depth teacher to student work, and benefits which will provide for post high school life.
Eugene International High School.
Established in 1984, Eugene International High School is an alternative school in international studies for grades nine through twelve. The program is designed for students who value global understanding, communication, and cultural differences and are interested in improving the human condition. The Eugene International High School program is a four-year interdisciplinary curriculum focused on the study of nations: their cultures, history, artistic expression, and political, economic, and belief systems. Students who graduate from the program will have developed a cultural awareness necessary for international communication and understanding.
The Rachel Charson center is a program where students form a community of learners who work together to gain a balanced, in-depth understanding of the natural environment through science and social study curriculum. The Natural Resource Systems CAM is earned through participation in Churchill High School’s Rachel Carson Center, and is looked upon as a great achievement no matter where a student ends up after High School. Covering human techonology, the animal kingdom, and just about everything in nature, Rachel Carson is an opportunity for anybody with curiosity about the world we live in.
